A Grass Root Response

When the sentinel spirits of our collective conscience and elected leaders don’t step up.
When dignity scrambles with despair and ‘freedom fears’ reach beyond where ‘freedom
thrives,’ a common folk action is needed.

This is a time of grave concern in the country related to many questionable edicts.
Many unlawful, as they spin their way through the courts. There is little objection from a
timid, not-wanting-to-make-waves congress in the House and Senate.

So, where is the outrage of the common person? Where are the plans to raise a big
voice or action? Why are so many stymied, almost frozen in non-response? We’re not
sure it is fear of consequence. It seems more like a sense of being overwhelmed.

The average person doesn’t know what to do. How to begin. So, they stew — worrying
and letting depression limit them even further. Other than writing an individual note to
their congressperson, which many feel has very minimal impact, they feel alone and
powerless–even as our democracy desperately needs their help.

Can a program be designed that encourages individuals to take action but grows
increasingly comfortable with a larger “supportive family of doers?” People who are not
necessarily haranguing on the political front but who might care for many of the same
concerns? Can there be fun and meaning in this? Being for something, not just against?
Can it build? We not only think it’s possible. We think it is imperative.
